Quick Shop Update
Seasonal Scarves and Halloween Treats
I have recently added a few warm scarves to my online shop and wanted to let everyone know. Don’t wait until winter to get what you need!
I have been having some fun with different textures and love sharing them with you.
Specifically I am continuing to knit with multi strands of yarn and large needs (#17!!) and I love the thick, soft feel of these warm scarves. A friend introduced me to this kind of knitting and I enjoy the denseness of the fabric of the knitted pieces. The yarns include wool, mohair, silk, cotton, metallic sparkle yarn - some hand spun and hand dyed.
A few scarves are in the simple seed stitch pattern and with three types of yarn I get a lovely, textured garment, made of varied colors - simple but unique. I will have more for Christmas shopping later in November.
There are still many colorful treats in my shop for you to wear or give, such as colorful skinny scarves by my daughter, shibori indigo dyed scarves and wall hangings.

You will also find a few needle felted Halloween decorations made by my daughter and me. We had lots of fun making these and enjoy their warm, colored textures for the autumn season. They are perfect decorations for enhancing small personal work spaces or seasonal table scapes.

Other items in the shop for you or for gift giving - some matted and framed Botanical Eco Prints and stationary. Perfect for enhancing your home spaces, and for sending personal notes to friends and family. Also, included in the stationary sets are a couple bookmarks and a handmade notebook.

For the Botanical Eco Printing technique I use a variety of grown and gathered flowers and plants to imprint on watercolor paper. The plants are dipped in an iron infused water then arranged and layered with this thick, textured paper that has been soaked in an alum mordant (a mordant assists with the images adhering to the paper and contributes to varying colors). Once the plants and papers are layered they are bundled up and tied between two boards and steamed in water. The prints are hung to dry, then pressed.
These late-summer and early-autumn prints are created from a selection of various home grown peony leaves, rose leaves, black- eyed susans, amaranth, and zinnias and, gathered ferns, maple and oak leaves, water rushes, silky dogwood berries and leaves, ivy and joe pye weed.
